I am Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at The College of Wooster where I also serve as Chair of the PreLaw Advising Program. I specialize in social and political philosophy and ethical theory. I have several additional teaching interests, including the philosophy of art and literature, existentialism, and the history of modern philosophy (particularly late 18th and 19th century philosophy). My current research focuses on the problem of political legitimacy and justification in an increasingly multicultural and globalized world and a critical analysis of various alternatives to liberalism as well as making the case for the intrinsic value of moral and material equality. I am Past President of the Ohio Philosophical Association, and a member of the Board of Directors of both the Teaching Philosophy Association and The American Moot Court Association.
